Mayswood Garage News
February 2003 Another long-term project for Nigel and Albert the carpenter...
who collected from Norwich a large 24' 70-year-old wooden hull which is partially restored and will be the basis of a new steam launch. It has no steam plant, so we need to work out what is required and obtain or build an engine and boiler - and interesting, challenging project!
January 2003 Took delivery of new Mercedes Bens Atego 818 chassis cab
this 7 1/2 ton gross vehicle weight lorry will be made into a recovery truck by ourselves at the garage; in the late 1980s we built two slide-back recovery trucks and 14+ years later they are still working well. We will design and build the bed from raw materials - steel from Corus, hydraulic rams from Scotland, galvanising in Wolverhampton etc. A major project and one to be worked on at quieter times and on Saturdays.
Happy New Year
to all our customers and friends!

August 2002 Colorectal Cancer Concern
On the 19th of August, Leicester Square sees the launch of the round-Britain tour, using a specially fitten-out 45 foot articulated trailer, to make the public aware of the symptoms of colorectal cancer:
Our involvement is in suppling the motive power in the form of a Mercedes Benz tractor unit and driver to take the outfit around the country to the different venues and set it up. Visit their website and find out more about the tour's venues at http://www.coloncancer.org.uk/.
The impressive graphics on the trailer were done by Visionline Signs who are one of our customers and suppliers.

March 2002 Nigel will be 'steaming'!
Nigel Woodward-Sheath (who runs Mayswood Garage) has fulfilled his ambition of acquiring a steam launch; this will enable us to learn about steam power and sailing skills. Although, when he will be able to steam on the Avon at Stratford we don't really know as he is always busy at the garage during the day and 24-hour recovery at night. But then, he always rises to these challenges. We will be including a web page later, about 'S.L. Alys II' which is the name of the 18-foot Frolic steam boat.
February 2002
For the first time we have purchased a Nissan Micra car for the self-drive hire fleet, which has been popular with the hirers.
