We test Class III vehicles (which are 3-wheelers) and Class IV cars and goods vehicles up to 3000 kgs, Class VII light goods vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes GVW. Large motorhomes are Class IV and these can be tested as long as they are no bigger than a double-decker bus ! We carry out testing on diesel and catalyst petrol engines.
As an ATF we are restricted to rigid HGVs with a wheelbase of up to 6.7 metres and a loaded weight up to 24 tons, but no artics or twin-steer vehicles. We also test petrol-engined HGVs and PSVs.
We carry out pre-test inspections and brake testing and have a Tapley Meter for brake testing HGVs and PSVs which cannot be tested on a roller brake tester.
We have tested vehicles for many people and companies including The Royal Household, Lord Mayor of London’s Rolls-Royces, various Ministries, Police, Rover, specialist clubs and so on.
On a daily basis we see at least one Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Veteran, Vintage or Classic car which through extensive knowledge can be tested with ‘understanding’.
Unlike many MOT garages we do not try to get work from the test – if you want us to carry out the repairs that’s fine, but if not just bring the vehicle back when it is ready for retest.
